Challenge: Favourite BC Autumn Getaway
Closed September 28, draw winner: Alysun
It might be a day trip, a weekend getaway, or a week's holiday, we all need a break from home sometimes. Tell us about your favourite place to visit around the province in the fall.
This is part of the Events Committee Weekly Quarantine Challenge.
Entries this week!
1. Nels: Tofino / Ucluelet! Clayquot Sound is absolutely incredible. The ocean is so big, the storms are so fierce and greenery is somehow even more green than here. I went for the first time back in August and it's so amazing. The Lighthouse walk in Ucluelet in particular is just mind-blowing. I mean, just look at this. https://twitter.com/Chef_IanRiddick/status/1309197985411076097
2. Brianne: Since were doing August, it is a family ritual of sorts to go camping with majority of my boyfriends family near his grandpas birthday; they’ve camped at a lot of the lakes near Merritt and I’ve so far been to 2. I love it , I hadn’t been actual camping like that since I was a little girl and even they say what they do is more roughing it because there’s not even a water pump nearby like I had:p
3. Kim: Okanagan to stock up on fresh produce for canning! And some trips to a few vineyards.
4. Patries: We just went to a cabin at Blue Lake Resort in Boston Bar. It also has campsites. It's close to Vancouver and a beautiful lake with boat/paddleboard rentals to enjoy the lake. www.bluelakeresort.ca
5. Jenny A.: Our tradional fall getaway is to spend Thanksgiving at our cabin on Hyas Lake. It is boat access only and no running water or electricity. My grandfather built the cabin and it’s full of beautiful familial childhood memories for me. It’s likely we won’t get to go this year but when I make turkey I’ll be thinking of how my grandma used to roast turkey in the wood burning stove oven at “The Lake.”
6. Leigh: We love Gabriola Island any time of year, and it is very beautiful in fall!
7. Alysun: Erin Fitzsimmons has been going to Narin Falls campground near Pemberton since he was a child, we now go together and have taken pirx twice already (she’s only been with us since the end of July) it has fantastic hikes, trail running, paddling and mountain biking coupled with nice breweries and bakeries - a good balance of activities to do on vacation
