The Membership Policy Committee will:
Document a process/policy for how external membership candidates will apply for and be accepted as members of the Co-op. This policy will ensure the Co-op has a transparent membership application process and can act quickly to fill new vacancies, minimizing loss of housing charge revenue and maximizing time for applicants to make necessary arrangements.
History/Why the Committee was started:
AVC has historically lacked a consistent, documented process for membership recruitment, resulting in unclear application processes and housing charge losses. With input from the existing AVC community, the Membership Policy Committee will create a new membership policy for the Board and greater AVC membership to review and adopt.
Objectives
Engage existing membership for input on priorities for membership recruitment and application process
Document the policy so the co-op has a clear process to follow
Share the policy with membership to ensure clarity and transparency
Governance
At the outset of the committee, we have a Board Liaison who will share relevant updates and direction from the Board
Committee members will use the Signal app to coordinate meeting times, share when tasks have been completed, and share relevant documents and links
The committee will communicate with the co-op as a whole through emails (sent by management on our behalf), and potentially through physical posters in common spaces and Facebook posts when collecting information and feedback.
