1. Purpose
The AVC Snow Clearing Committee is established to allow the co-op to meet its responsibilities for snow/ice removal in a more cost-effective way by relying on co-op membership instead of hiring contractors for these services.
2. Duties, Responsibilities & Term
The AVC Snow Clearing Committee is responsible for:
Developing and maintaining a Snow/Ice Clearing Plan on how to manage the clearing of snow and ice from sidewalks and pathways that will:
Meet requirements set out by the City of Vancouver
Reduce any risk to injury and associated liability
Meet the needs of co-op members
Coordinating co-op members to volunteer their time to help implement and deliver on the Snow/Ice Clearing Plan
The AVC Snow Clearing Committee is being established for a term from October 2024-June 2025, with the potential to extend the committee’s term based on AVC Board support and an assessment of the committee’s ability to meet the duties and responsibilities outlined above on an ongoing basis.
3. Membership
New members and volunteers for snow/ice clearing are always welcome and needed, with current membership including:
Greg Morris (Chair)
Jordan Dawe
Rex Hodgson
4. Meetings
How meetings are conducted and how decisions are made.
Frequency: Meetings to be held as needed
Decision Making: Consensus approach, with any decisions being supported by a majority of meeting participants

5. Budget
Expenses incurred by AVC Snow Clearing Committee members for equipment and materials needed to facilitate the clearing of snow and ice from sidewalks and pathways will be reimbursed by submitting receipts to COHO’s building coordinator.
