Subject: AVC Playground Use and COVID-19 update
Dear Members,
Thank you for your continued efforts to follow COVID-19 safety protocols and keep our community safe.
Given new provincial COVID-19 restrictions and BC CDC guidance on safe use of playgrounds, the Board wanted to communicate that we encourage members to safely use our outdoor playground and rooftop garden areas in accordance with these guidelines. We note that any gatherings should adhere to the following updated restrictions:
March 2021 update to Public Health Office Order
The PHO is amending the gathering and events order. Up to 10 people may now gather outdoors. All restrictions for indoor gatherings remain in place. For example:
Up to 10 people may gather at a park or beach
Up to 10 people may gather in the backyard of a residence
No gatherings of any size are allowed indoors
Do not gather with several groups of new people – stick to the same people. Continue to use COVID-19 layers of protection and maintain physical distancing.

What does this mean in our Co-op?
We encourage safe use of our outdoor spaces, and any gatherings can be up to 10 people:
Playground area. Please continue to give our daycare children safe space when they are using the playground; daycare providers will also ask parents not to linger during drop-off/pick-up.
Rooftop garden.
We strongly encourage that only one household at a time use:
Laundry room.
Elevators. If you are able, please consider using the stairs to minimize congestion.
Bike rooms.
Workshop.
Common room and lobby.
We strongly encourage masks to be worn in all indoor common areas of the Co-op, including hallways, the lobby, and the parking elevator lobby.
In addition:
Children should not play in interior corridors and the lobby.
COHO maintenance continues to clean door handles and elevators on a regular basis.
We always want to hear from you
The Co-op Board will continue to review the COVID-19 situation and provincial health guidance on a regular basis and will provide updates as needed. If you have feedback about any of the above, we welcome hearing from you. You can contact the Board here or reach out to the appropriate individuals here.
Co-op floor buddies
Continue to take care of your own wellbeing and that of others, e.g. check-in with neighbours safely to help deliver food, medication, or assist in other ways. The following wonderful neighbours have offered to be Co-op floor buddies to answer questions and help communicate your needs to the wider AV Co-op community.
