September Co-op Stars

• Thank you to everyone involved in the youth committee for thinking of ways to make the north roof garden more usable/friendly for older kids.  The hanging chairs are even fun for some of us smaller grown-ups, and it was great to have the extra seating during our bike committee meeting this month. - April
• Big thanks to Steve O for finding, and Madelena for posting to the FB group, the kids' set of keys that I didn't yet know were lost! Thank you to Francesca for the phone charge cable, marking my first 'ask' on the FB give away group! - Sarah H.
• A little late but thanks to everyone that helped me when Marcelo was hospitalized. Lauren + Steve for bringing meals and taking care of Bacon, Emily C already so missed that did our laundry and made dinner for us when M came back home. Big thanks to AJ that visited Marcelo at the hospital and brought clean clothes for him. Also huge thanks to Kris that kindly worked alongside me for an entire wedding day during his day off. So much gratitude for this community! Thanks to all the cats of the 4th floor for having so much patience with Junia while she tries to chase them in the hallway and breezeway :) Thanks to Steve and Lauren for taking care of Bacon during the day of the fire that we had to leave but couldn’t leave him alone. - Madalena
• Huge thanks to Shane O'Neill for sharing how to shut off water flow to the fire sprinklers when they've done their job. May this knowledge never be needed! - Nels
• I'd like to nominate Cole, Adam and Greg for taking Sketch out for walks/toileting while the elevators were down during the fire/flood Friday afternoon. Also Greg for staying with Sketch and I by the window in the hall while the alarms were going off when I was feeling pretty upset about it all. Thank you to Deb for propping open my unit door because I had some water coming in, and for talking with me about staying out of the unit for awhile to be safe. Jenna for checking on me and everything going on on the 2nd floor. Thanks to Ngaire for checking in to make sure I was OK. Also want to nominate Francesca for putting in a work order for the elevator to be fixed a couple of weeks ago. We have some amazing, compassionate, thoughtful people here and I'm proud to be part of this community! So nice to see everyone coming together when there is a need, especially when there's a big one that affects so many of us. Thank you so so much. - Brianne
• I would like to thank Eoin & Francesca, and Lyra, Alice and Jenn A for watching our cat while we were away. It meant a lot to us and a lot to Norway! - Sky & Kai
• A big hurrah for all the contributors and editors of the Co-op Literary Journal - over 20 kids collaborated on the project, and every one of them is a co-op star.

• Thanks to Ada for being a 4th floor star! She takes Great care of neighbour’s plants and pets, and is generally a kind and considerate kid - Andrea F-W
• I want to recognize Ada as a coop star. Ada stepped in to take care of two boisterous cats while we were away and we’re very grateful for her time and commitment. Special mention also to Marlene and Ted for supporting Ada taking on new responsibilities. - Meg

August Co-op Stars

• I’d love to nominate John for picking up Sketch’s business the other day while we were out and there was no trash can nearby. Amanda M for sharing her Costco eggs as well as giving me some of the Hungarian soup she made- delicious!  Glen and Francesca and Cole for trying to help me fix my computer. • I would like to thank Skylar for being a garden superstar. She noticed and alerted me to the fact that the Vegepod tomato plant had blown over. Skylar then assisted me to get it back up and stable again. The plant needed some leaves trimmed and she then removed the leaves. Thank you, Skylar. - Deb
• Eve Gagnon and Alysun Jones for finding Nolan's $10 bill that he dropped on his way to take Ava for lunch at Subway/Urban Fare. Nolan is very happy it was found and we are so impressed with this community! - Amanda M

Emmily and Ned for allowing Sketch inside their home to play with Molly and "investigate things" as dogs like to do. Allison(James) for lending Sketch his blanket during Sing 2. Deb/Jon for removing the crow nest debris off the ramp so wheels and paws can use it comfortably with no issue. Laura who printed off Sketch's assessment test (TWICE, might I add because it blew away the first time in the wind! :p) Shawna for taking Sketch's food out of the deep freeze as it's pretty heavy for me! February 2022 Co-op Stars

• I want to nominate a couple of people for being so kind in helping with the fire alarm we had last week. Meg- for keeping up to date with what was happening outside with the fire trucks, and Alysun- for taking Sketch out to pee and away from the bells because I cannot use the elevator during a fire alarm. Also want to nominate Rick- for lending me his cell phone charger when my chair broke down a week or so ago, and Jordan- for kindly msging me re what was happening with the solutions to the security breach last night, instead of knocking on the door so Sketch wouldn't be disturbed. Beautiful neighbours we have here living at AVC! - Brianne
• Many thanks to our awesome neighbours who helped us get through Covid. Fearghal/Lerin for picking up groceries, Linda/Terry for lending us some new toys and games, and our super next door neighbour, Amanda, for driving up the hill to pick up Ross' birthday cake so that, despite being in isolation, we got to celebrate. - Debra
• The newly-elected board deserves a star for spending hours attending to the co-op office break-in, arranging for overnight security and knocking on doors to make sure that everyone was aware of the situation. - April
• We would like to thank Rex, Kim, Alek, and Zaki, Terry, Linda, and Lauren, Shane, Meg, and Fintan for so kindly supporting us while we were self-isolating with COVID. We are so grateful for all the dropped of dinners, masks, grocery runs, recycling runs, loaned books and toys,  and overall moral support.
