AV Co-op Events Committee Meeting

Minutes: April

• Review and report on actions from the previous meeting 

  • Lerin to ask board re: petty cash for events, as refunding for events has been very delayed.  Office has not gotten back to Lerin yet.  She’ll follow up.   

• Thank Yous & Star Award draws

  • Prize Draw Winners:

    • Star draw winner: Greg F. 

    • Nominators of stars draw winner: Brianne 

• Events coming up, and in discussion:

  • Valentine’s card exchange: Event has been posted.  Kids are starting to sign up.

  • Spring Break Treasure Hunt: The anonymous treasure fairies would like to do another one.  The first year there were 20 participants, and the second, 14.  This year they will leave the challenge open for a month.  Committee approved a $25 budget for prizes.

  • Egg Hunt: Francesca to ask Peter to organize.  No budget needed as participating family supply a share of treats.

  • Egg Drop: Francesca to check if Shane would like to continue running this event.  

  • Bike the Night: Francesca checking if Rex wants to run again while it’s still dark in the evenings

  • Sunday Spirits: Lisa is planning to host these regularly, and Francesca had new posters printed up/laminated for ease of advertising them.  

  • Quiz Night: Enough participants signed up.  Some neighbours have expressed disinterest due to Zoom fatigue, while other neighbours would not be able to attend an in-person event due to parenting small children.  

  • Group Camping: Alice Lake has been harder to book than swimming lessons.  Caitlin suggested: https://www.fortcamping.com/ in Fort Langley.   This area has a reputation for having a lot of insects in June & July, which gives us some pause.    Action: Francesca to ask Caitlin if she’s had experience there.
